David Yarde wasn’t like most of the other boys growing up in Jamaica.
He wasn’t into sports, he was home schooled, he didn’t do much physical labor, and his love of technology and poetry did not exactly help him fit in. His peers often would say things like, “I don’t understand that nerd thing.”
But computers and tech became his happy place, and in some ways, that passion saved his life. “I usually was the only one into technology,” Yarde said. “In my culture, we would go to church, I would shake someone’s hand, and they would comment on how soft my hands were and how I’m always on the computer.” Read more here.
