Moon lander’s upcoming launch on SpaceX rocket opens door for more lunar missions

SpaceX will have equipment from three organizations riding on its Falcon 9 rocket this week, including a historic mission for Israel and for all private space companies. 

The Hawthorne, Calif.-based rocket company will shoot its Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station’s Launch Complex 40 on Feb. 22 at 8:45 p.m. While the rocket will carry the SSL LLC-built PSN 6 communications satellite owned by Indonesia’s PT Pasifik Satelit Nusantara, as well as the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory’s S5 payload — another mission — while small in size — is getting a lot of attention for its historic significance. Read more here.
