Local meteorologist’s startup uses artificial intelligence to better predict weather

Leela Watson spent 10 years working on a NASA contract where her specialty was running weather models — or numerical weather prediction. She said while those models have come a long way since they were first used in meteorology, she knew there could be a better way to predict weather.

“I felt frustrated that we weren’t making greater strides in improving them,” Watson told Orlando Business Journal. “I thought using artificial intelligence would help overcome some of the current limitations of weather models and improve them.” Read more here.
