UCF to get $500K for manufacturing research thanks to 2 area groups

The University of Central Florida will get $500,000 for joint research with area manufacturers, thanks to a new strategic partnership formed by FloridaMakes and the Florida High Tech Corridor Council that aims to stimulate economic development in the region and beyond.

As part of the deal, FloridaMakes — an Orlando-based management and consulting service firm that works to strengthen the state’s high-wage manufacturing sector — will invest $500,000 in the council’s existing matching grants research program at UCF. “It’s an investment in pairing university researchers with companies in need of their expertise,” said FloridaMakes CEO Kevin Carr. “We are trying to broker the connection between universities and business.” Read more here.
