NASA’s Orion milestone made possible by Northrop, Lockheed

As daylight broke at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station on July 2, NASA celebrated its successful run of the Ascent Abort-2 test to measure the Orion spacecraft’s abort system efficacy.

The launch and abort system engineered by the Bethesda, Maryland-based Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT) exhibited its capacity to eject the pilot capsule that would contain a live crew. In the event of an emergency, this feature would ensure the safety of the astronauts on board. Read more here.
