More opportunities for local tech firms could come from an investment program by Lockheed Martin Corp. (NYSE: LMT), beyond the $100,000 the contractor is putting up to launch it.

The Lockheed Martin Invests: Orlando initiative launched Feb. 5 as an invitation for small businesses in Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties to submit proposals and compete for $100,000 to execute a variety of research and development projects. As part of the program, small businesses also must hire a science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) intern to support their efforts. Read more here.
