Last week we attended the Synapse Summit, a gathering of the innovation community in Tampa held over two days at Amalie Arena. It was amazing to see so many people (over 5,000 registered), speaker (over 300), startups and company exhibitors (over 300), and workshops (over 60) under one roof at one time. It is these kinds of events that bring an innovation community together and accelerate its growth. Orlando needs such an event and I have no doubt it could be successful here if the private sector, government, and educational institutions in our community backed it – like they did in Tampa.
Orlando companies exhibiting: Bridg, Capacitech, Leap with Alice, Archer First Response Systems, Limbitless Solutions, Talon Simulations, Lucerna Studios, BrandXR, StarterStudio, and Informulate. Orlando folks Diane Court, Blaire Martin, and I saw at the conference: Joe Sleppy, Gordon Folkes, Gloria LeQuang, Jose Contreras, Zack Pierola, Rajiv Menon, Tim Giuliani, Sheena Fowler, Rupert Meghnot, David Glass, Kunal Patel, David Metcalf, Chris Castro, Chance Glasco, Habeel Gazi, Kristen Wiley, Ernest Rolfson, Rick Wassel, Caroline Castille, Eric Ramos, Anessa Santos, Sandra Arber, Casey Field, Carol Ann Dykes, Bobby Torres, Caesar Medel, Marc McDonald, Steve Burg, Alfonso Morales, Ken Sakal, Alfred Espidol, Joey Grant, Lily Wong, Leslie Hielema, Lee Ramirez, Augusto Guevara, Debbie Hoffman, Ed Schons, Chester Kennedy, David Sharpe, Kelli Murray, and numerous students from UCF and Full Sail University.
The Orlando innovation community has an opportunity to gather at our own event at the Orlando Science Center on April 10th – Digital Orlando. The event organizer, David Glass, has informed us that he is partnering with Synapse to host the event – we look forward to seeing the enthusiasm here we saw in Tampa.
