Central Florida gets piece of Boeing’s $4B contract to build Super Hornet aircraft

The U.S. Navy wants a swarm of newly upgraded Super Hornet aircraft and is paying Chicago-based Boeing Co. (NYSE: BA) a hefty amount to build them, including some work in Central Florida.

The military branch awarded a $4 billion, five-year contract to Boeing for the firm to build 78 F/A-18 — better known as Super Hornet —aircraft. The contract is specifically for the full rate production of 61 F/A-18E variant, and 17 of the F/A-18F variant — both models being Block III configurations. Read more here.
