Blue Origin’s $1B Space Coast infrastructure plan could add jobs, space activity

Blue Origin LLC is planning to ramp up its investment on the Space Coast, which will have a major impact on launch activity and jobs.

The company, founded by Amazon’s Jeff Bezos in 2000, announced during a National Space Club Florida Committee luncheon in Cape Canaveral on June 11 that it would be investing more than $1 billion into new and old infrastructure on the Space Coast, Florida Today reported. That is expected to provide a road to launch for the Kent, Washington-based company’s more than 300-foot-tall, two-stage New Glenn rocket, which is projected to potentially occur from the Cape Canaveral Air Station as early as 2021.
