OneWeb Satellites finally opened the doors of its new $85 million, 100,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Space Florida’s Exploration Park on Merritt Island near Cape Canaveral. The facility in Florida, OneWeb’s largest manufacturing plant, has been a long time coming as the company first announced its plans for it in 2016.
The plant is a key factor in the company’s ability to reach its goal to send hundreds of satellites to space to connect more than 4 billion people in the world who are without internet connectivity. “By 2022, there should be no school without connectivity,” Greg Wyler, chairman and founder of OneWeb, told Orlando Business Journal.
