Central Florida grabs $4 billion a year in government contracts, but defense work isn’t just for the Lockheed Martins and Northrop Grummans of the world.
Smaller companies can get pieces of that work by acting as suppliers for large corporations. All large contractors use suppliers to fulfill orders. For example, Lockheed Martin — the region’s eighth-largest employer — relies on the services of 385 suppliers in Orlando alone and more than 1,200 across Florida.
