After Rise of the Rest: These startups forged big-name partnerships and more

Venture capital firm Revolution announced in October it raised $150 million to continue funding the Rise of the Rest Seed Fund, meaning the traveling venture capital competition has a secure future and possibly will return to Orlando. The competition made its first appearance in Orlando in April, giving eight companies a chance to pitch their companies and vie for funding.

Rise of the Rest was founded by AOL co-founder Steve Case and is backed by multiple high-profile entrepreneurs and billionaires such as Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) founder and CEO Jeff Bezos, as well as founder of Spanx apparel Sara Blakely. Eight Central Florida companies participated as finalists, with Orlando-based AireHealth LLC winning the competition, along with $100,000. Read more here.
