New sensor technology rolled out by Luminar will drive more development and testing by the autonomous vehicle company in Orlando.
Luminar Technologies Inc. unveiled its newest product, called Hydra, Jan. 7 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, one of the nation’s largest annual trade shows with more than 4,500 exhibitors and 175,000 attendees. Hydra offers improved perception compared to the sensors previously developed by the company, Luminar Chief Business Officer Scott Faris told Orlando Business Journal. The sensor will allow self-driving cars not only to see objects, but also determine what they are. “That’s really the next evolution.” Read more here.
