NASA’s No. 1 and No. 2 priority: $23 million toilet headed to space

A new toilet that’s easier to use for both sexes, and promises less messes, is headed to the International Space Station on a resupply mission set to launch Thursday.

The new hardware, called the Universal Waste Management System (UWMS), has been in the works since 2015, and versions of it will also be used on the Orion capsule for crewed missions to the moon starting with Artemis II.
